While walking to the subway after work today, I saw a bicyclist run over a pedestrian at full speed at the corner of Christopher Street and 7th Avenue. I was crossing the street with a crowd of people, when I heard someone screaming, "look out!" He had ran the red light and almost made it through all of us, but hit the poor last guy, knocking both of them to the ground. This made me think, why do bikers not have to follow (or choose not to follow) the rules of cars or pedestrians? They run stop signs, don't stop at intersections and ignore pedestrians. I think if they are going to ride in the street, they should have to follow all of the same rules as cars.
im pretty sure they have to follow the same rules as cars. i might be wrong, but i think thats how it is.
ReplyDeleteYea, I'm not up on the whole 'urban biker', but all I know is that they seem pretty out of control.
