Checked out Socrates Sculpture Park in Astoria, Queens today. I'd never really been to a sculpture park before, but I like art, so I was curious. It was not what I expected, however. It was quite small, and it seemed to be under construction. Most of the sculptures were surrounded by caution tape.The sculptures themselves were not anything special either. A friend who was with me made the accurate observation, "I could paint a rock and throw it down on the ground there and it would be considered a sculpture."
The park was something to see, but is not really recommended. The area it is located though was fun, lots of parks and opportunities to walk to the East River for views of Roosevelt Island and Manhattan.
