Volkswagen Steals Landmarks

These Volkswagen ads are kinda strange. Why are they jamming the Eiffel Tower and the Statue of Liberty into trucks? Can anyone translate the copy and shed some light on these?

    Empire state building? Where?

    If you're refering to the first ad, then that's the Eiffel Tower.

    You sure that's teh Empire State Building? Looks like the Eiffel Tower to me.

    It says "more room for your stuff." Remember, the French gave us the Statue of Liberty. Same guy designed both.
