UPS Whiteboard Spoofs are Great

I just saw this UPS whiteboard commercial on TV and thought I'd blog about it. So, I headed over to YouTube to do my normal hunting for it. But surprisingly I found tons of spoofs along with the video. The spoofs are great. I've included a few of my favorites below, and you can see more here.

  1. I can see how people might find these funny. I personally didn't, and don't see why people are mocking this campaign. Is it the actor that is annoying people or just the whole concept?

  2. I think it's the concept with the drawings and the white board. It's something easy to replicate and so simple that people can come up with variations easily. I don't think they dislike the campaign, but just find it an easy thing to mock.

  3. thank the maker someone else finds these commercials annoying.

I'm watching a lot of the NCAA tournament and they keep playing. That guy drawing on the board is driving me crazy. If I knew where he lived, I'd egg his house.

  4. Oddly enough, to cast the "whiteboard guy", UPS claims to have gone through over 1000 actors only to give up and go with Andy Azula --a person with the ad agency handling the account. He must've done that stuff so much they figured he was the best person for it.

  5. ha...that's great...I've seen quite a few instances where agencies cast their own people for their own ads...must be that self-love stuff at work.

  8. Having a very personal understanding of the ad campaign, it is true that UPS went through a ton of actors, but the bottom line was that no one could pull off the presentation that Azula did. He resisted several times their offer but was eventually convinced by his agency and UPS to assume the role. Legend or not, personally he's a super nice guy that isn't deserving of the negative comments.

  9. i don't know when this thread started but i'm still seeing this campaign and still find this smug cheeseball with the fast times at ridgemont high hairdo incredibly annoying. i don't think it's effective when the sight of him immediately makes me praise the timeshifting gods for my TIVO...he may be a nice guy but viewers think he's a pretentious twat.

  10. He has to be one of the more annoying pitch guys out there.. He is pretentious, and with that hair, omg... He looks like an ugly drag queen when he is filmed from the side on the latest commercial... Ewww

  11. Some may feel squeamish about eating it, but rabbit has a fan base that grows as cooks discover how easy they are to raise — and how good the meat tastes.
